Two sales tax rates, not one
9.15% general, 8.00% food & liquor
Denver's own ordinance sets a lower 4.00% city rate for food and drink, which the same ordinance extends to liquor-store alcohol, against 5.15% on general merchandise. Add the state, RTD and Scientific & Cultural Facilities District layers and that's a combined 8.00% on your hot case, cooler and packaged alcohol, against 9.15% on chips, cigarettes, household goods and ice on the same shelf. Storeveu's per-department tax rules ring the correct rate on each line so you're not splitting the receipt by hand.
