State sales tax
4.225% state, local on top
Missouri charges 4.225% at state level, and everything above that is a voter-approved local option rather than a state mandate. Cities, counties and special districts such as transportation development districts and community improvement districts each stack their own rate, so combined totals run from the bare 4.225% in an unincorporated area with no local levy up to roughly 10-11% inside a special district. Because those districts split ZIP codes, the rate has to be looked up by street address against the Department of Revenue tables, which are republished quarterly. Storeveu holds a state-level rate that every Missouri store inherits, with a per-store override for the local layer at each address.
