POS built for Nevada convenience, grocery and liquor stores

Nevada is one of the few licence states where a convenience or grocery store can ring beer, wine and full-strength spirits off a single off-premises licence, with no separate spirits carve-out and no state store standing in the way. There is no state lottery to configure either, so the register skips that module entirely. What still needs care is sales tax: the statutory state rate is just 2%, but three more statewide levies stack on top by law, so every county collects at least 6.85%, and getting a store's exact county rate right is what keeps the register accurate.

Serving independent retailers across Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas, Reno, Sparks, Carson City and the rest of Nevada.

Nevada rules, already configured

These are the settings an NV store has to get right. Storeveu ships with them in place rather than leaving them for you to build.

State sales tax

6.85% floor, up to 8.375%

Nevada's statutory state tax rate is only 2%, but three more statewide levies stack on top by law, so every county collects at least 6.85%. Four counties, Humboldt, Eureka, Mineral and Esmeralda, sit right at that floor with no local add-on, while Clark County adds the most and reaches 8.375%. There is no city layer, only a county one. Storeveu holds the combined rate for each store with a per-store override, so a Clark County location and a Humboldt County location each ring their own rate without a manual lookup.

Grocery exemption

Groceries exempt, hot food taxed

Unprepared grocery food is fully exempt under NRS 372.284, not just taxed at a reduced rate. Prepared food sold hot, or handed over with a fork or spoon the store provides, loses that exemption and is taxed at the full local rate instead. That means the same bakery item can flip from exempt to taxable depending on whether a utensil goes with it. Storeveu's per-department tax rules let you flag that split so the hot case and the grocery aisle ring correctly on the same receipt.

State lottery

None; tobacco needs its own licence

Nevada has no state lottery, so there is no ticket inventory or payout screen to configure for this state. What actually gates a sale here is tobacco licensing: a store needs its own Tobacco Retail Dealer's Licence from the Department of Taxation, and cigarettes can only be sold in full packs or cartons, never loose. Storeveu's scan data module covers the tobacco reporting side, so your compliance records tie back to the licence you hold.

Alcohol licence covers spirits too

One licence, 21 to buy

Unlike most licence states, Nevada lets a convenience or liquor store sell beer, wine and full-strength spirits under one off-premises licence, with no separate spirits carve-out and no state store standing in the way. Selling hours are set locally by the county liquor board or the city, not the state, so a 24-hour Las Vegas store and a small town store down the highway can run under different windows. Purchase age is 21 for both alcohol and tobacco. Storeveu's date-of-birth prompt at the register uses that single threshold across both categories.

Keeps selling when the internet drops

The register is offline first. Sales keep ringing and sync the moment the connection returns.

Nevada questions

Does Nevada have a bottle deposit I need to configure?

No. Nevada has never passed a bottle bill, and past attempts, including AB427 in 2011, which created a study committee that in 2013 declined to pursue a bottle bill, and a 2019 Senate pilot program proposal that died without passing. There is no deposit or CRV line to add at the register and no redemption obligation on your store. Scrap buyers still pay for aluminium by weight, but that is a commodity sale to a recycler, not a statutory refund you administer. So there is nothing to set up on the register for container deposits in Nevada.

How does the Nevada sales tax rate work across different stores?

The statutory state rate is only 2%, but three more statewide taxes are layered on by law, so every Nevada county collects at least 6.85%. Four counties, Humboldt, Eureka, Mineral and Esmeralda, sit right at that 6.85% floor with no extra local increment. Clark County adds the most on top and reaches 8.375%, with Washoe close behind at 8.265%. Rates are set at the county level, not the city, so you configure by county rather than by address inside one. Storeveu holds each store's combined rate with a per-store override, so a multi-county chain does not need a manual lookup at every location.

Can my convenience store sell hard liquor in Nevada?

Yes, and it is simpler than in most licence states. Nevada has no state spirits carve-out and no state-run liquor stores, so a convenience or grocery store can sell beer, wine and full-strength spirits from one off-premises licence rather than juggling separate licences for each category. Retail licensing and selling hours are both set locally, by the county liquor board or by the city if the store sits inside one, so hours can differ between a Las Vegas location and a small town location. Check your local ordinance rather than assuming a statewide default, since round-the-clock sales are common in Las Vegas and Reno but not guaranteed everywhere else.

Does Nevada have a state lottery I need to set up?

No. Nevada is one of the states with no state lottery, so there is no ticket sale, payout or end-of-shift scan to build into the register. What does need attention instead is tobacco: every store needs its own Tobacco Retail Dealer's Licence from the Department of Taxation, and cigarettes must be sold only in full packs or cartons, never as loose singles. Storeveu's scan data module still handles the tobacco reporting side even without a lottery workflow to run alongside it.

Common questions

How much does Storeveu cost?

Plans start at $39/mo (Starter) and $129/mo (Pro) per store, billed month-to-month with no contract or early-termination fee. Most modules are add-ons you turn on per store, see the pricing page for the full list.

Does Storeveu work offline?

Yes. The register is offline-first, it keeps ringing sales with no internet and syncs automatically the moment the connection returns, so a dropped router never stops checkout.

Is there a long-term contract?

No. Storeveu is month-to-month per store with no long-term contract and no early-termination fee, change tiers or cancel a store anytime.

Do I need special hardware?

No. Storeveu runs on standard Windows PCs with common receipt printers, cash drawers and PAX/Dejavoo terminals, bring your own, or buy the E15W dual-screen terminal.

How long does it take to switch from my current POS?

Most stores go live in 1-3 weeks. The team imports your catalog and customer list from systems like Square, Clover, Lightspeed or Heartland, usually overnight.

Can I manage multiple stores?

Yes. Run multiple locations from one back office with per-store pricing and inventory, plus a five-tier role hierarchy and custom roles.

Is my store data private and secure?

Every record is scoped to your organization and store, access is permission-gated by role, and one tenant can never see another’s data.
