State sales tax
4.85% state, 6.35% floor
Utah's 4.85% state rate never stands alone. A 1% local sales and use tax and a 0.25% county option tax apply almost everywhere, and a third 0.25% layer, transit or transportation depending on the jurisdiction, is present in every jurisdiction too, so the real statewide floor is 6.35%, not the 6.10% you get from only adding the two most commonly cited pieces. Combined rates run up to about 8.45% in most cities and counties and reach 10.05% in a handful of resort and MIDA districts. Storeveu sets Utah's rate at the state level so every store inherits it automatically, with a per-store override for a jurisdiction that needs its own line.
