State sales tax
6%, 7% in 100 cities
West Virginia's state sales tax is 6%, but 100 municipalities, including Charleston, Huntington, Morgantown, Parkersburg and Wheeling, add their own 1% municipal sales and use tax on top, for a combined 7% inside those city limits. It's a municipal home rule option that each city adopts on its own, not a county tax and not a statewide mandate, so a store just outside city limits can sit on a different rate to one a few blocks away. Storeveu sets the 6% state rate at the organisation level and lets you override it per store for any location inside one of the opted-in cities.
