POS built for Oklahoma convenience, grocery and liquor stores

Oklahoma exempts groceries from its 4.5% state sales tax, but every city and county tax on that same item still applies in full, so a routine grocery item needs two separate tax bases rather than one exemption flag. The state also splits its lottery pay into a 6% selling rate and a separate 0.75% cashing rate, rather than one blended commission. Both quirks mean a single wrong setting on either side of the register either loses you money or overcharges a customer on nearly every basket.

Serving independent retailers across Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Norman, Broken Arrow, Edmond, Lawton and the rest of Oklahoma.

Oklahoma rules, already configured

These are the settings an OK store has to get right. Storeveu ships with them in place rather than leaving them for you to build.

State sales tax

4.5% state, plus local option

Oklahoma's state rate is 4.5%, but cities and counties each add their own tax on top by local vote, so combined rates typically land between 8% and 11% depending on the exact COPO jurisdiction. The Tax Commission publishes a quarterly rate chart by jurisdiction, and a store not listed on it owes no local tax at all. Storeveu holds state-level rates that every store in Oklahoma inherits, with a per-store override so you can set the exact combined rate for your address.

Grocery tax split

0% state, full local still applies

Since HB 1955 took effect in August 2024, unprepared groceries pay no state sales tax at all, but every city and county tax on that same item still applies in full. A hot case item, a deli sandwich or anything sold with a utensil falls outside the grocery definition and reverts to the full 4.5% state rate plus local. Storeveu runs two tax bases behind every item, state and local, so a grocery SKU can ring 0% state and full local on one line without a manual override.

Lottery selling and cashing

6% selling, 0.75% cashing

The Oklahoma Lottery Commission pays retailers on two separate rates: 6% on tickets sold and 0.75% on prizes you cash, so a single blended commission understates what you actually earn on redemptions. Storeveu tracks lottery books through inventory, active, depleted and settled, with an end-of-shift ticket scan that works out tickets sold, and records selling and cashing as separate streams so your report matches the Lottery statement.

Beer and wine only, no spirits

Two licences, 15% ABV cap

A convenience or grocery store can hold a Retail Beer licence and a Retail Wine licence from the ABLE Commission, both capped at 15% ABV, but spirits require a separate Retail Spirits package store licence you can't hold alongside a general grocery format. Beer and wine sell 6am to 2am seven days a week, while spirits retailers keep tighter hours and Sunday spirits sales are a county-by-county local option. Age to purchase alcohol and tobacco is 21, though ABLE Commission guidance allows a 16-year-old employee to handle and sell beer and wine at a grocery or convenience store. Storeveu sets a date-of-birth prompt at the register and can scope alcohol categories to exactly what your licence covers, store by store.

Oklahoma questions

How does Oklahoma's grocery tax exemption actually work at the register?

Unprepared groceries pay no state sales tax since House Bill 1955 took effect in August 2024, but every city and county tax on that item still applies in full, so the item is state-exempt, not fully tax-exempt. A hot case item, a deli sandwich, or anything sold with a fork or spoon counts as prepared food and reverts to the full 4.5% state rate plus local. Getting the prepared-versus-unprepared flag wrong will over-collect or under-collect on nearly every basket. Storeveu carries a separate state and local tax base for every item, so a grocery SKU can ring 0% state and full local automatically.

Can a convenience store in Oklahoma sell liquor?

Only beer and wine, and only under two separate licences from the ABLE Commission, a Retail Beer licence and a Retail Wine licence, both capped at 15% ABV and sold refrigerated for off-premises consumption. Distilled spirits require a Retail Spirits package store licence, which a general grocery or convenience format cannot hold. Beer and wine can sell 6am to 2am, seven days a week, while spirits retailers keep tighter hours, and Sunday spirits sales depend on whether the county has approved a local election allowing them. Storeveu scopes alcohol categories to the licences your store actually holds, county by county where hours or Sunday rules differ.

What lottery commission does Storeveu apply for Oklahoma?

Oklahoma pays two separate rates rather than one blended commission: 6% on tickets sold and 0.75% on prizes you cash. Storeveu records selling and cashing as separate streams so your commission report reconciles against the Oklahoma Lottery Commission's statement instead of showing one flat percentage. Lottery books are tracked through inventory, active, depleted and settled, and an end-of-shift ticket scan works out how many tickets were actually sold.

Do I need to configure sales tax differently for each Oklahoma city?

Yes. The 4.5% state rate is the same everywhere, but cities and counties each add their own local rate by vote, and the Oklahoma Tax Commission's quarterly COPO chart is the only authority on what applies at a given address. Combined rates typically fall between 8% and 11%, though a handful of jurisdictions run higher. If a jurisdiction is not listed on the chart, it has no local tax at all. Storeveu holds state-level rates that every store in Oklahoma inherits, with a per-store override for the exact combined rate at your address.

Common questions

How much does Storeveu cost?

Plans start at $39/mo (Starter) and $129/mo (Pro) per store, billed month-to-month with no contract or early-termination fee. Most modules are add-ons you turn on per store, see the pricing page for the full list.

Does Storeveu work offline?

Yes. The register is offline-first, it keeps ringing sales with no internet and syncs automatically the moment the connection returns, so a dropped router never stops checkout.

Is there a long-term contract?

No. Storeveu is month-to-month per store with no long-term contract and no early-termination fee, change tiers or cancel a store anytime.

Do I need special hardware?

No. Storeveu runs on standard Windows PCs with common receipt printers, cash drawers and PAX/Dejavoo terminals, bring your own, or buy the E15W dual-screen terminal.

How long does it take to switch from my current POS?

Most stores go live in 1-3 weeks. The team imports your catalog and customer list from systems like Square, Clover, Lightspeed or Heartland, usually overnight.

Can I manage multiple stores?

Yes. Run multiple locations from one back office with per-store pricing and inventory, plus a five-tier role hierarchy and custom roles.

Is my store data private and secure?

Every record is scoped to your organization and store, access is permission-gated by role, and one tenant can never see another’s data.
